Strengthening cultural education in schools
ITANAGAR, Jul 06: A three day seminar on the "strengthening of Cultural education in School" was held at Udaipur Rajasthan from July 4th to 6th July 2015.
The programme was conducted by CCRT (Centre for Cultural Resources and Training, New Delhi), the premier institute for promotion of culture in the school under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resources.

ATA seeks relaxation of loan limits
ITANAGAR, Jul 06: Arunachal Teachers’ Association’s Central Executive Committee members submitted a representation for reconsideration of decision on personal loan limit for teachers from 12 times of gross salary to 18/24 times. On July 3rd, ATA CEC called on the Regional Manager, State Bank of India, Itanagar for immediate alteration of decision within the month of July 2015 failing which the ATA shall be compelled to review the earlier ultimatum served to the SBI authority by launching democratic movement against the bank.
ATA had submitted a memorandum on 17th September 2013 to this effect.
Rajnath to chair NE CMs meeting on July 11 in Ghy
New Delhi, Jul 06: The Centre has convened a meeting of Chief Ministers of Northeastern states at Guwahati to discuss various issues, including strategy to deal with insurgents based in Myanmar.
The meeting to be chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at Guwahati on July 11, will take stock of the security situation in the region and how to deal with emerging threats like increasing violence perpetrated by Northeast militants based in Myanmar, sources said.

Awareness programme on ornamental fish
Roing, Jul 06: A one day awareness programme on ornamental fish for the local farmers was organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), in collaboration with Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) Guwahati, here at the KVK office in Balek on July 3. Around 30 villagers attended the programme that threw light on a new approach for sustenance, especially of SHGs and fishermen of rural tribal area.
PC KVK Dr.T.J. Ramesha gave detailed information about the subject, stressing upon it as an employment generation medium. He also spoke about the different modules for breeding and culture of the coveted species, and also about marketing channels for the produce.
While informing about the success of SHGs in Karnataka, Dr. Ramesha encouraged the local SHGs to try ornamental fish rearing for income generation.
Assistant Director MPEDA V.V. Raju, who participated in the programme as a resource person, highlighted the activities and various schemes of the organisation, while DFDO D. Davi called upon the participants to change the attitude for active involvement in the enterprises to have sustainable income and livelihood support. Davi also offered to extend his support for interested entrepreneurs in implementation and development of ornamental fish production in the district.

A couple of weeks back me and my friend went to a park in Naharlagun and sat under a huge strong tree.
We talked with each other when all of a sudden a pensive voice came from behind us “bhaiya Bis rupia do nah”.
I was wondering where the voice came from. Then I looked back and saw a small boy standing behind the tree with full of dirt on his face.
I remember he wore a yellow polo t-
In Arunachal, we don’t see anyone begging for something so it struck me instantly that I should not be encouraging him to beg. My instinct was somewhat not letting me do that so I went to offer a packet of biscuit. But to my surprise the boy didn’t take it and ran and disappeared.
A day back I went to Naharlagun to drop my friend but it started to rain heavily. As we both were on two wheeler, we were forced to wait near the market and we waited there for the rain to stop. As we started talking with each other, we heard someone say ”Bhaiya, bis rupia do nah”. I was astonished to find the same boy from the Park, wearing the same clothes, drenched in rainwater. This time as I was about to take a 20 rupee note from my wallet, the boy ran away and disappeared.
I still wonder why the boy had to ask for twenty rupees and of all the people run into me again when there are thousands of people. I wonder whether it was a mere coincidence. Was he for real?

Garbage leads to water logging in Roing

ROING, Jul 06: Roing town has been facing water logging problem since past few years now. Many parts of the town, including few government quarters get submerged in water during rainy days, sometimes even after a day of heavy showers.
UPO DUDA Tao Tadap informed that the garbage which was notoriously blocking the drainage system, causing the excess rain water to flow into the streets, has been removed by the department. "We have been successful in removing the garbage that was blocking the drainage system. However, the silt deposited at the bottom of these drains is causing a lot of problem and its removal is posing difficulties", said Tao.
Construction of the highway by the BRTF is also another reason for causing this water logging problem in the town. Drains have been demolished for the purpose letting the excess rain water to find its way into the main road, and no progress can be seen regarding the reconstruction of the drainage system, as well as the road. Both, pedestrians and vehicles have a difficult time plying through the unhygienic water flowing all over the town's busiest streets, which too, is not in a very good shape.
Meanwhile, no work for correcting this problem can be seen, either from the BRTF or from the District Administration.
CHANGLANG, Jul 06: All precautionary measures have been put in place by the Crisis Management Teams to prevent any kind of possible untoward incident from the leaking natural gas well in Kharsang Oil Field.
Necessary equipments are being mobilised by the Crisis Management Team as per plan to control the leaking well.

Seeks early release of pending Advt. bills
ITANAGAR, Jul 06: The Arunachal Press Club (APC), on behalf of the press fraternity of the state, in a memorandum, has drawn the attention of the Chief Minister, who holds the charge of IPR department, about the contradictory step of the IPR department relating to its Information and Publicity policy.
The GoAP departments as per the policy routed all advertisements through the IPR department, which also provisioned timely payment with funds to be allocated to IPR department specifically for the purpose. But shockingly the policy is blatantly violated regarding payment though the APC has been drawing the attention the GoAP since 2004 and the local media suffers from prolonged and huge outstanding payments. The present total outstanding bills stood at over Rs. 4 Crores which justified the fear of the APC.
However, the APC over a year ago had also drawn the GoAP regarding the same matter and sought directive for strict implementation of the policy in letter and spirit by evolving a mechanism to regulate advertisements, increase ad tariff after the GoI’s Audio Visual Publicity Department in November 2013 for the print media hiked the rate followed by Assam Govt which had hiked the rate for newspaper by 60% w.e.f. 01.01.14. Moreover, when the attention of former chief minister, Late Dorjee Khandu was drawn, he had released huge outstanding payments through the IPR department.
Thus, the memorandum signed by APC president Chopa Cheda, sought immediate intervention and support for the local newspapers to function and serve the state and its people in an effective manner.
Meanwhile, the APC president also met IPR & Planning Secretary Sonam Chombay, who assured positive action.

to Information Technology, the Digital India Programme aims to bridge the gap between
the government and the people living at the last border, said Wangham while addressing
the concluding day programme of the week-
Digital India envisages transforming India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy thereby making every Indian well informed and connected with the government activities, he said. The programme intends to ensure that the government services are made available to every citizen electronically which would reduce paperwork and rush in the government offices.
The initiative also includes plan to connect rural areas with high speed internet networks.
“Our State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has a plan to bring scientific tempo in the working of the state machinery for effective administration of development activities”, he said, adding that digitization of land records, public distribution system, population census, employment exchange, economic household survey records and ILP system are the agendas of our Govt.

At Pasighat, addressing the festive revelers on the occasion, MP Ninong Ering appreciated the Apatanis for their endeavour to preserve their culture and tradition. Most of the tribal festivals of Arunachal Pradesh are agriculture and nature based which bring unity in the society, he added.

Raken Padu, Commandant 2nd AAP BN BHQ Aalo said the festival and festivity gives us a distinct identity. Padu stressed on common participation in all festivals to promote and propagate the values that underpins unity in diversity.
DFC president, Nending Tatung highlighted history and significance of Dree, while General Secretary Kime Tani dwelt at length about the mythological aspects of the festival.
Presentation of cultural programme, prize distributions to the winners of sports, literary, cultural competitions and Dree Lottery draw were other highlights of the daylong programme.
At Dirang, Dree Festival Celebration Committee chairman Er. Tasso Hinda while addressing the festival revellers today said “Besides being a bonhomie agricultural festival, Dree is a cementing factor amongst the Apatanees throughout the world who dedicate and reaffirm their roots in their inherent customs and traditions through celebration of this unifying festival.”
Reading out mythology of the festival, Er. Hinda said that the festival was a window through which the Apatanees saw and understood each other, imbibed the spirit of brotherhood, mutual fraternity, understanding and tolerance amongst themselves and carried forward their community flag. He also advised the younger denizens to always uphold this spirit of unity and pride in their cultures and customs through the sands of time.

ITANAGAR, Jul 06: A meeting was held today in the office of Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex in connection with the celebration of Independence Day on 15th August at Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar. The meeting was chaired by DC Mige Kamki and attended by the officials of various departments. Briefing the department concerned on their duties and responsibilities, DC asked all to work with dedication and sincerity so that the Independence Day could be celebrated in true spirit without any lacunae.
Informing that the parade rehearsal would begin from 3rd August next and the final rehearsal would be held on 13th August, DC urged all the departments to ensure that all the arrangement works are finished by then. Also on 11th August there will be a special rehearsal of parade contingents and cultural troupes, the DC informed. Briefing on the security scenario, the DC directed the SP Capital to deploy adequate security personnel for security arrangements and crowd control at I.G Park. Briefing the departments of PWD, PHE and Power regarding the construction works, sitting arrangements, provision of drinking water, electricity etc, the DC expressed hope that they would work together as a team and effectively carry out the works assigned to each one of them.
Later, the DC informed that a review meeting has also been fixed on 5th August next to take an overall view of the works carried out by various departments. Among others, the Principal PTC M Riba, EAC (festival) Tame Yajum along with the administrative officers and representatives of various departments attended the meeting.
Later in the evening, one more meeting was held in the chamber of the Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex Mige Kamki with the proprietor of various bakery units in Capital Complex. During the meeting, DC urged all to maintain quality food items and at the same time to check the rising prices of the items. As the prices of the items are increasing rapidly, it is necessary to regulate them from time to time, the DC said. He also asked them to follow the standard food safety measures and to keep in mind the workers health conditions.
CBCS triumphs in district level Monpa language contest

Vying for the top honours, the contest saw 16 competitors from various secondary and higher secondary schools of the district and Tawang monastery speaking on the life of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Monpa.
Phuntso Dhargyal (class VIII) of centre for Buddhist Cultural Studies (CBCS), Tawang monastery and Lham Yuoton (Class X) of Mnajushree Vidyapeeth were adjudged the winner and runner up respectively whereas Lobsang Gyatso (Class XI) of Government secondary school Tawang and Jampa Sangey (class VIII) of CBCS jointly bagged the third prize.
Felicitating the victors, Deputy Director for Art and Culture, Kesang Dondu, lauded the efforts of the organizers. "Such events are important because it keeps our languages, culture and tradition alive”, he stated.
“The purpose of the contest is to involve the younger generation. It is hoped that this contest will encourage the youth to master their language” informed Lhundup Choisang, executive member, BTSM.
Monks, nuns, students, HoDs, panchayati leaders and the general public attended the programme.

AMSU FC lift Yade Kri Memorial Football Trophy
ITANAGAR, Jul 06: AMSU FC lifted the first Yade Kri Memorial Football Trophy defeating
Wakro Youth FC 3-
The winner was awarded cash prize of Rs. 40, 000 along with certificate and medals while the runners up team was given Rs. 15,000 with medals and merit certificates.
Tezu Bazaar FC walked away with the disciplined team award with cash prize Rs. 5,000.
Susil Tayang was declared as best player and Ageyso Gam as the best goalkeeper while Painso Pul became the highest scorer in the tournament. All of them were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
The trophies and prizes were distributed by Wakro ZPM Patam Rangmang and Dr. T. Doke from Arunachal State Hospital, Naharlagun.
Altogether, 14 teams from Namsai and Lohit districts participated in the tournament which was started on June 20.
The tournament was inaugurated by Wakro EAC D.Riba.
Yade Kri was an active social worker and radio artist. She also served as a Member Secretary of APPWS Lohit district unit; and prior to this she was a govt. employee.
She was the wife of Lupalum Kri, Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering and Water Supply (EZ).
ITANAGAR, Jul 06: The State Level 6th Eagle Trophy Football Tournament will be conducted from August 1 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun.
The winning and the runners up teams will be awarded cash prizes of Rs.2 lakh and Rs. 1 lakh respectively, informed Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) Assistant Secretary Kipa Ajay.
ITBP, Kimin was the winner of the last year's tournament and Doimukh Football Club was the runners up.
Meanwhile, Ajay urged chairmen/presidents of all the registered football clubs of the state to field their teams in the tournament so as to encourage the upcoming players as well as for development of the sport in the state.
He also clarified that registered clubs are only allowed to participate in the Eagle Trophy tournament as per rule. However, those clubs and teams willing to participate in the tournament will have to get themselves registered with APFA.
Open badminton championship at Seppa
SEPPA, Jul 06: Dr D. Talang won the men's open single title in the East Kameng Open Badminton Championship defeating Rajesh Neri in the final at Mini Indoor Stadium here yesterday.

Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Singh, who attended the closing ceremony, lauded the initiatives of the EKBA for providing a good platform to the badminton players to show their talents by organising the event. He suggested the organising committee to work out plans as to how to take ahead the talented youth at the higher levels.
He also suggested them to maintain the infrastructure available properly as creation of new infrastructure takes time.
The motive behind the tournament was to promote the sport and expose the hidden talents for their further participation at higher level, said EKBA Genral Secretary Haring Tajo.
He also informed that the Association is planning to hire a badminton coach to train the children (both boys and girls) of age group between 13 to 19 years.
EKBA President Boru Sangyu submitted a memorandum to the DC urging him for handing over of the New Badminton Hall to EKBA.
Dilip Gurung, Thomas Ango and Ambita Sonam attended as observers during the tournament.
The tournament was organised by East Kameng Badminton Association (EKBA).
